Brakes

Brake issue: if I don't come to a full stop when I try to go, the car jumps/lurches slightly

If I try to ease off the brakes and didn't come to a full stop the car does a quick little lurch/jump forward. Sometimes after I come to a full stop and then press the gas if I do not remove my foot fast enough or too fast from the brake it lurches/jumps forward too. This happens sometimes if I switch from reverse to drive and don't pull my foot of the brake all the way. It is like before I can go anwhere the darn brakes hiccup... my boss seems to think this is the transmission not switiching gears fast enough.. or it is hurting the transmission..
Help please, is this just sensitive breaks?? Or an actual problem with a real solution...
Thank you, M.

One possibility is the ABS system. It can have its issues when coming to a stop and even when you think you are fully stopped, under 5 miles an hour, it can jerk the vehicle forward. When you come to a full stop, does it then jerk forward (or attempt to) shortly thereafter.

Low fluid level or dirty transmission fluid will also cause a similar issue...hesitation then a quick jerk.

Hello Jimm,

Sometimes it does the "jump" when I have been completely stopped and go to ease off the breaks, in order to roll forward, or press on the gas to go. It used to be a lot more of a noticeable lurch, but as I started to notice it, I tried to baby the breaks and now it is a less of a lurch, but still there and very irritating.
