Blown head gasket, or fraud of a dealer?

Just bought a 2002s80, I've only put 2k miles on it so far which brings it to 70k. On my drive to work yesterday it started smoking and the thermostat needle just stopped working. I checked the oil and it was almost completely empty. I filled the oil and then brought it back to the dealer and they are saying blown head gasket. Is that possible this soon into driving a car or does this sound more like this guy sold me the car without disclosing all the problems?

No way to determine at this point - especially after driving 2k miles. What was the cooling system and condition of the engine at the time of purchase? Any evidence of cooling system leaks or overheating?

What is the warranty on the used car? What is the dealership position on the needed repairs? How did the dealership determine the blown cylinder head gasket? What testing was performed?

Try these on-line resources for the replacement parts: www.autopartswarehouse.com, www.partsgeek.com, www.rockauto.com, www.partstrain.com - to list a few.

For example, they (RockAuto) list the replacement cylinder head gasket kit from around $139.00 for your vehicle.

Cylinder head gasket set = MAHLE ORIGINAL/VICTOR REINZ part #HS54553 or part #HS54553A (depending on vehicle serial number)
