1989 Nissan Pathfinder SE 6 Cyl 3.00L

Transmissions & Drivetrains

Automatic box not shifting correctly

I have to lift off the throttle at 2500 rpm to get the box to change gear. If I don't, it keeps going past 4000 rpm, and still won't change without throttle lift off.
Gearbox oil and filter has been changed to see if any difference, none.

Changing Automatic Transmission Fluid & the Filter has absolutely
nothing at all to do with resolving a thing

Just old fluid out & new fluid in

When a transmission is worn internally & is slipping & you change the
fluid they seldom work again, just slip even more & don't move at all

How many miles on the present trans--I would assume it is not from
1989 & has been pulled a couple times for repairs or rebuilds

What Unit or Model Trans do you have---Jatco RE4R01A --there are a couple
others that may be used other than in north america

First of all, thank you for the response!
I bought the vehicle in 2001, now has about 130,000 miles. Situated in Patagonia, Argentina.. So tricky to find dedicated transmission shop!
How to find transmission model number?
Changes are very smooth, and even goes into overdrive. I simply have to lift off to get the change to function. I will have a look at the ECU error codes again to see if anything comes up.
