1991 Mercedes Benz 190E 2.6 6 Cyl 2.6L

Body & Interior

AC working part time.

My air condinitioning is cutting out. The unit is full, doesn't leak and stays cold even when blowing warm air. My mechanic isn't familliar with Mercedes, but thinks it might be a control unit.

Any ideas out there? It's awful hot in Texas with no AC and I want to keep the car.

well the car is getting older, this could be caused by a few problems. Is the A/C compressor cycling? When you say its cold even when blowing warm air? not following do you mean the a/c line is cold under the hood?

Here are some possibilities

Check blend door in hvac unit, the blend door may not be switching from hot to cold. If that is the case then it could be the actuator that controls the blend door is no good, or the control unit is not working, meaning the switches on the dash.

If that is working then the problem could be the a/c evaporator clogging up, or the dryer not performing its function.

If the car has dual electric engine cooling fans make sure both of them are working when the a/c is turned on, the a/c fan may not be functioning
