What the P2197 code means?

This code is typically an indicator of an O2 (oxygen) sensor trouble, although there are quite a few things that can cause an O2 sensor to fail. The most ordinary is a vacuum leak in the intake manifold on bank 2, in the case of this code. Bank 2 is the assembly of cylinders that do not contain the figure one cylinder; bank 1 is the group of cylinders contains the number one cylinder.

What causes the P2197 code?

• Oxygen (O2) or A/F ratio sensor or sensor heater go wrong

• Open or short in O2 sensor circuit

• Fuel pressure or fuel injector trouble

• defective PCM

• Intake air or engine vacuum leaks

• Defective fuel injector

• Fuel pressure too high or too low

• PCV system leak

• A/F sensor relay defective

• MAF sensor malfunction

• ECT sensor go wrong

• Fuel pressure too low

What are the symptoms of the P2197 code?

These could include a lean or rich condition in the engine, decreased fuel efficiency, black smoke from the tailpipe, and an illuminated service engine soon lamp.

Common mistakes when diagnosing the P2197 code?

Technicians report substitute of oxygen sensors, when lean or rich engine situation are the reason of incorrect readings, is fairly ordinary. Replacement of the wrong oxygen sensor is also a option.

What repairs can fix the P2197 code?
