What the P2263 code means?
The P2263 diagnostic trouble code indicates that there is a performance issue with the turbo/supercharger boost system. The turbo/supercharger uses exhaust pressure and an air/fuel mixture to create boost. Vehicle manufacturers predetermine the range in which exhaust pressure is expected to stay.
What causes the P2263 code?
The turbocharger may have failed
The boost pressure sensor may have failed
Waste gate failure
Plugged catalytic converter
Faulty Injection Pressure Control (IPC)
What are the symptoms of the P2263 code?
Symptoms may include reduced engine acceleration, whining or rattling noises from the turbocharger or turbo pipes, abnormal smoke from the exhaust, spark plug fouling, excessive engine or transmission temperature, hissing noises from the turbocharger waste gate and/or hoses, and an overall lack of engine performance. Additional codes may include other boost codes, engine misfire codes, or knock sensor codes. Cylinder detonation is another possibility, due to high engine temperatures. The boost pressure gauge (if so equipped) will exhibit abnormal levels of boost pressure.
Common mistakes when diagnosing the P2263 code:
Technicians report that failure to flush all debris and obstructions from the turbocharger oiling system can lead to repeated turbo failure. Turbocharger replacement without exhaustive testing of waste gate function and electrical circuitry is also the cause of frequent mishaps.
What repairs can fix the P2263 code?
Replace faulty turbocharger
Replace faulty boost pressure sensor
Replace faulty injection pressure control
Replace exhaust back pressure sensor
Replace faulty waste gate
