Drop the fuel tank & remove the pump from the top

If your chevy has a carburetor the fuel pump should be on passenger side block just in front of exhaust manifold. Remove two hoses ,one steel the other black fuel line from fuel pump.Remove two bolts that fasten fuel pump to engine then remove pump.Installation is a bit tricky,there is a pushrod that drives the fuel pump that will drop down but not out.You will have to lift that rod up and keep it in place to install the pump. I've used a bent feeler gauge but something thin and flexible will work.
