I need to replace the fuel tank due to a leak near the top of the tank. Do I need a fuel sending unit and/or a filler neck or is it enough to just replace the tank and straps.

I went to a salvage yard and all i could find was rangers with rods from the handle to the lock none with a cable and called around and no one seems to carry it or know what I'm talking about. A rod won't work it needs to be a cable?
