2012 Honda Civic LX 4 Cyl 1.80L

2012 Honda Civic lx sedan mpg?

My Honda is getting horrible gas mileage, I'm averaging 20 city and about 35 highway. I wanted to know why I'm getting horrible MPG. I checked my air filter, but I don't know what else. Keep in mind that I just bought the car not even 2 months ago.
I drive very slow and I brake and accelerate also slow, I use cruise on the highway, all of my tires I checked last week, I used Lucas cleaner and I use supreme at Chevron lol, it has 84,500 miles

There are many possibilities; faulty / worn spark plugs, tires underinflated, wheels mis-aligned, air filter dirty or clogged, brakes dragging / not fully released - to list only a few.

Keep in mind the fuel economy ratings of 28 MPG city and 38 MPG highway are just that; rating estimates. Real-world fuel mileage may be very different than the EPA fuel economy ratings.

Avoid the fuel cleaners, additives, and premium fuel - waste of money and will accomplish nothing.

Check the various on-line sources; for the replacement parts; www.autopartswarehouse.com, www.RockAuto.com, www.partsgeek.com, www.partshotlines.com to list only a few. They (RockAuto) list the replacement spark plugs from around $4.30 each, and the air intake filter from around $4.50 for your vehicle.

Spark plug = NGK part #97390 - or it's equivalent
Air filter = DENSO part #1433662 - or it's equivalent
