2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser Limited 1Cyl0.2L - Transmissions & Drivetrains
My 2002 PT Cruiser limited w/automatic transmission won't move in any gear. Park and neutral work as advertised
The problem started soon after a long road trip(1500 miles). Fluid & filter change fixed it for a couple days but it came back. Another fluid & filter change and solenoid pack replacement failed to fix it this time. The transmission pulls down the engine rpm when the shift lever is placed in reverse/drive but the car still won't move under it's own power. It tows/pushes fine in neutral. Also, the parking brake is off.

Sounds like time for the transmission replacement / overhaul. How many miles?

130,000 miles...I was thinking trans also. Just don't want to miss another less complicated/less expensive fix. I've seen several stories of people replacing the trans and then having the problem recur because another part was causing the initial problem.

Check to make sure shifter cable is still attached to transmission. It is common on these vehicles for the cable end to wear out and pop off the trans linkage.
