Always wear safety glasses when working on your vehicle. Wear other personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary, for example latex gloves or closed toe shoes.

Start your vehicle.

Locate your check engine light and monitor its status.

Verify that the check engine light is on while the engine is running.

Connect scanner to the OBD output.

Follow the scanner's instructions to retrieve diagnostic trouble code(s).

Locate the coil that is associated with the cylinder number on the misfire code.

Disconnect the wiring harness from the faulty coil.

Disconnect and / or remove the screws or clip that secure the coil in position.

Remove the faulty coil.

Place a thin layer of dielectric paste on the inside of the new coil boot where it contacts the spark plug ceramic body.

Secure the new coil in place and connect the wiring harness.

Follow the scanners instructions to clear the check engine code.

Start the vehicle and monitor the status of your check engine light.
