Locate the vehicle's fuel door.

Open the fuel door.

Remove the fuel tank cap.

Inspect the fuel tank cap and seal for damage.

Install the new fuel tank cap.

If the damaged fuel tank cap caused a check engine light, reset the light and test drive the vehicle to verify the repair.
