Always wear safety glasses when working on your vehicle. Wear other personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary, for example latex gloves or closed toe shoes.
Gain access to the vehicle's spark plugs. On some vehicles, they may be visible and attached to the spark plug wires. On other vehicles, they may be hidden under plastic covers.
Mark each of the plug wires for installation reference. Remove each of the spark plugs and replace them with the new ones. Be sure to set the spark plug gap on the new plugs to the recommended specification before installing. Start the spark plugs - by hand in the cylinder head threads using a length of vacuum hose on the end of the new plug - as needed. Tighten the spark plug to the recommended torque setting - do not overtighten.
When removing and replacing spark plug wires, it is strongly recommended to lay out the new wires, and match them to the corresponding length wires already installed on the engine. This process is best accomplished replacing each wire one by one.
