How to Pressure Test a Radiator

Steps

Safety Tip:
Always wear safety glasses when working on your vehicle. Wear other personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary, for example latex gloves or closed toe shoes.

With the engine off and cold, open the hood and locate
the vehicle's radiator.

Inspect the radiator for damage, corrosion and signs of leaking.

Install the cooling system pressure tester following tool instructions.

Pressurize the radiator and cooling system. Do not exceed the pressure rating on the radiator cap. Inspect for leaks.

Pressure test the radiator cap.
