Repair/Service: Not I wanted for sure

Total Cost: $450

Took my car in for regular tune-up and maybe tire rotation. Waited forever and then Bob came by to tell me that my car needed this and that, and gave me an estimate. But never told me about the extra time and thus labor hours. My jaw almost dropped when I saw the final bill. This place is dishonest, unfriendly, and serves to exist to rip off Toyota customers. I will never, ever, return to a Toyota shop. I much rather go to a local mechanic store and support my community business.

Repair/Service: Factory recall and brake pad replacement

Hourly Rate: $227

Total Cost: $625

With three recall notifications I took my car in to be serviced. Naturally, they found that the front brake pads needed to be replaced and the rotors 'machined.' I was quoted at price of around $350. Not knowing any better, I agreed and asked to use the 10% service coupon. A few hours later I got a call saying "Oh yes it's the rear brake pads as well." I paid the price (literally) for my lack of knowledge and being too busy/distracted to do my research. In the end, I paid over twice as much as I should. What's the saying? "Caveat emperator"?
They were all friendly and courteous though, with a clean shop...
