This began with a walk-in to the Meineke Car Care Center to ask to an estimate for all four shocks to be replaced and the installation of an Energy Suspension's polyurethane bushing set. I was quoted $400 and $90 additional labor for the bushings. The next day the vehicle was delivered for the service to start. Mid afternoon I was called and informed they were not comfortable installing the rear shocks due to rust and also one of the outer tie rod ends would need to be replaced. I agreed to the additional cost of the tie rod just to be told that the new estimate was $1100. Mind you this is minus the two shocks and installation for the rear. Avoiding conflict, being that my vehicles front end is already in the middle of servicing, I agree to the charge and let it be. Two hours later I receive a second call about the tie rod situation, in which I advise them this was already discussed and approved. You guessed it, to my surprise the estimate crept up to $1200. Now, not satisfied on the situation at hand, I sent a comment to the Corporate Headquarters concerning the issue to have an impartial party review this business practice. The next day, instead of a representative from Corporate Customer Service, I received yet another call from the local Meineke center. The owner informed me that they have stopped work on my vehicle and asked if I would like to come pick it up. Now my hostage vehicle, with only half of the front suspension work completed, is offered to me. I am also told that the work I agreed to the previous day was not completed. I again stated that I wanted for them to complete what was requested, finish the front end work, and I would pick it up as soon as it was completed. Estimated time to complete 3-4 hours. 6 hours later, guess what, still incomplete work to the front end. This establishment was hostile, deceitful, and no regard for the safety of the vehicle owner or population in general. To add insult to injury, they would not even accept the $50 coupon for the repair. This will serve as a $600 advertisement for the quality of service they provided to the Service Members of the Jacksonville community. I will gladly pass my experience to EVERY person I come in contact with.
