Used a voucher for a $5 safety inspection. After the inspection, I was told that they had to fail my car for a torn CV boot and play in a lower ball joint. I told them that the car inspected several years back with a torn CV boot I thought. To which the guy at the counter exclaimed, "We'll that's against the law." Later, downloaded Utah Safety inspection guide which clearly states they should only advise on a torn CV boot. So the guy is either ignorant or bare-faced lied to me.
As for the ball-joint, the manual states to test it loaded. They seemed to have it on a lift the whole time, so I don't know how they tested it. Tested it loaded tonight. There was no play whatsoever. These guys are either incompetent or dishonest. I'm leaning toward the latter. Do not get your safety inspections here. They will probably try to invent work for them to do. I don't trust them now as far as I can spit on them. I will never go in there again!
