Repair/Service: Diagnostics

I took my '97 Subaru to Cliff's to find out if it needed a new catalytic converter. They never called me to tell me what was wrong with it and/or what any repairs would cost. They had it for 3 days, I go to pick it up and they said they ran a bunch of diagnostics and that they reset a computer and that they didn't know what the problem was but after reseting the computer it now runs. And if I have anymore problems to bring it back. All that and I'm out $450 bucks and I don't even know if it'll keep running... Next time I'll go somewhere else!
