I was looking for a small repair shop, locally owned with better prices than the car dealers' repair shops and this is what led me to Cliff's Garage. The office manager gave me a quote for around $1,000 worth of work and said they would need to keep the vehicle for all or most of a day, barring "unexpected problems." I gave them a $200 deposit to order parts and scheduled the work for two weeks in advance. On the day of repair I had the car at the shop by opening time to give them the entire day if they needed it. When I called the owner at 1:30 to see how it was going, he admitted he was behind in the work, but said that he would have it ready by 5:00. Then, at 2:00 he called to ask what repairs were needed, as if he didn't even have a work order. He stated that the job would not be completed until the next day, around noon. This was very disappointing as I had to rent a car for a day while the work was being done and now the car would have to be rented a second day. To be fair, I have no complaints at the time of this writing as to the quality of the repair work. But if you're looking for credibility, work ethic, dependability or a well-organized business, you might consider looking elsewhere. I will continue looking for a small shop that meets my expectations.
