I have a VW 05 bug that needed a new catalytic converter in order to pass the state mandate for emissions. It was also the cause of my check engine light being on. I had my car dropped off for repair September 3, 2014 for a total of 375.28. It was on Thursday September 4, 2014 that I was driving my car back to Athens for work that I notice a rattling sound my car has never made before. It was so bad that I thought I would have an accident in the middle of the road. My engine light also came back on and stayed on as well. I drove the car all the way back to Snellville 40 minutes away and I had to miss a day of work. I had to use my vacation time in order to go back and see why my car sounded this way. I asked the front desk guy if the mechanics could look at it. It turned out that they put the wrong model catalytic converter on my car. I was so angry because I trusted them to have some integrity and make sure my car was repaired properly. It is not a cheap repair after all, and they specialize in catalytic converters. You would think after 20 years in business the manger would make sure the right model was on my car. If my car had not made that noise and if my engine light had not come back on, my car could have gotten damaged. The front desk cashier guy was so rude to me rolling his eyes, huffing and puffing. He was asking me how long my car made this noise. I told him this only happened after they had my car. He said I had a bad axle and also that they put the wrong model catalytic converter on my car. He did not even bother to apologize for it. He did not even act as if it was a big deal because he did not care. My car might not mean anything to him but I need it to go to work. It was not until I asked for the wrong model number, that they put on my car so I can write a review, that they started to change their attitude towards me. After I mentioned I was going to write a review, only then did the manager step in to talk to me. However, he did not even bother to apologize either for the inconvenience; nor did he tell me what his name was. He told me he does not expect people to know the science behind fixing a car. When really there is no science to it because he is not a scientist. He also told me that, just because they put the wrong model on that it does not mean this is the issue with the drivability of my car. He said that it may be another issue with the car instead. Either way he put the wrong part on my car and he could have made more issues for it over all. The BIG front desk guy had the nerve to say he will just leave the bad part on my car and give me a full refund. I told him I have no choice but to get it fixed. I need this to pass the emissions test, but they made my life way more difficult then it needed to be. I had to verbally tell them how much they inconvenienced me in order to see how urgent this was. I told them I have a fulltime job, I am on call, and I have inconvenience those at my job as well. So they order the correct model that day for my car and installed it. It was a 5 hour wait to get this all taken care of. So far, my check engine light has not come back on and it is driving better with no noise. Thank God I realized this, since they clearly were never even going to tell me. I will never go back here again nor will I recommend them to anyone; especially a woman. I truly believe they think women are stupid and will not notice poor maintenance done on their cars. In any event, I am going to the VW dealer to make sure they did not do any visual damage to my care because I do not trust them.
