I've been a customer of Don Ahrens for nearly as long as he's been in business and wouldn't hesitate to recommend his services to anyone. He's done everything from a simple oil change to scheduled factory recommended maintenance to a timing belt replacement and everything in between. I've found him to be honest and reliable and very customer oriented. He's always given me honest answers to what the problem is and how much it will cost, and I've never had him do anything that he didn't discuss with me first, and that includes finding things not initially seen on the original inspection or diagnosis of a problem. Many years ago I brought in my car to have him work on the suspension and he was honest enough to tell me it wouldn't be worth the cost to have the work done. A less honest mechanic might have taken the job anyway and then hit me up for costs for "unforseen" problems. I have recommended him to several of my friends and they have all been very happy with him and continue to use him whenever necessary. The fact that he specializes in only a few brands allows him to better understand the individual characteristics and problems associated with those brands and also more knowledgeable and able to promptly fix whatever problems there are. His employees are always courteous and very knowledgeable and take the time to explain what they think the problem might be as well as what they actually did for the repair. As for the cost, while he's not the cheapest in town he certainly isn't the most expensive either, but you can be sure the repair will be done right and in nearly all cases done on the same day. To me, it's all about customer service, and that's the difference that has made this place worth coming back to over and over again for all these years.

After refusing to work the technician any longer, my husband and the owner managed to resolve the problem. I believe there never would have been a problem had he not been out of the shop for the two weeks my car was there. Dealing with him was a relief and changed our overall experience with the company. I would remove or edit my original review if I could figure it out, instead I am including a 5 star review to make it a 3 star, or overall average experience. I would like to clarify, though, that the car was not driven until it shut off, but that my mother noticed a belt snapping and then drove it one mile to the nearest interstate exit. The damage was more extensive than quoted by the original mechanic who saw the car, but we were upfront and honest about what we knew about the car. Because the damage wasn't able to be seen until the car was taken apart, I am curious about how I was supposed to know something that even the mechanics did not find out for a week and then we were left out of the loop until the car was almost fixed. Had we known how extensive the problems were we would have chosen not to fix the car at all. Overall, I would rack our experience up to simply bad luck with timing, which does not seem like the norm for the company.

Jessica wasnt honest about overheating her car ,by driving it untill it shut off, upon disassembly we found plastic intake had actually melted, wich means other problems DID come up with car, alsoengine got so hot it pulled the head bolts out of block so block had to be repaired?? Nice try though, and dont know how we tried to upsell since I quoted your husband $3700 for a new engine that it should have gotten, but instead repaired yours for $1800, I just dont see the upsell. But then again she wasnt honest from the start

Don't use them unless you are prepared for them to take more than twice the amount of time quoted. We were quoted 4-5 days for a head gasket replacement and the car has now been there for 2.5 weeks. And no, no other problems came up with the car. They also will not offer you a loaner car or pay for a rental, or any other kind of reimbursement for the trouble.
