What is wrong when I lost my reverse?

I put the truck in reverse and nothing happened. Then I put transmission oil in and still could not get reverse. Then I noticed the transmission oil is running out. Truck got hot and smoked. Had to put more transmission in it.

  It sounds like there is a major problem with the transmission. You could have a cracked case or a severe leak, the transmission will need to be diagnosed and serviced immeaditly to avoid further damage.
