Do window markings help when shopping for a used Mercedes?
I'm looking for a used c class mercedes. Somebody told me that I should pay attention to the markings on the widows (particularly the bottom number) which indicates the year of manufacture of the window. He said that if the windows were replaced (possibly due to an accident repair) the bottom numbers wont match. Is that true? I looked at a 2008 c300 and the front passenger and rear window were marked with a 7 and the others with an 8.

Jimm 1/15/2013The windows may be replaced or identified for a variety of reasons - it may or may not indicate the vehicle having been in an accident. Look for other telltale signs; body repair, signs of the chassis being straightened.
