what's wrong with my power steering?

there is noise when turning to the right
mileage is 159,140 miles

  what kind of noise? if the pump is whining then it is low on fluid, so you will have to find the leak, which may be the pump itself, the hoses, or the rack and pinion. if the pump has been run low long enough it may be bad even if it is not leaking and may continue to whine even with a system full of fluid.
