1997 Chevrolet Tahoe LT 8Cyl5.7L - Transmissions & Drivetrains

The truck will not go into reverse, drive, but will turn over just fine.

120,000 miles. This is the first time it has happened. I was at a complete stop. Started driving at 10 mph and heard a snap (not loud) and the truck went into neutral by itself. The engine was running okay, but the truck would not reverse or go forward. Could this be the transmission or the transfer case? Please help. Thank you.

  sounds like the transmission, something has let go internally, have it checked out by a transmission specialist, but you will probably have to replace or rebuild the transmission
