2001 Lexus RX300 Base 6Cyl3.0L - Transmissions & Drivetrains
Can Transmission fluid come out the tailpipe?
My lexus has been leaking transmission fluid and I have notices a sticky residue on the hatchback door and it has smoked out the tailpipe when started.I noticed that my motor oil dip stick was low but I have not seen motor oil leaking from the car.The car is also sluggish to go into gear sometimes and makes a clincking noise when accelerating after braking to make a sharp turn.
Any help would be very appreciated.

Alot of stuff going on here, first I have never heard of transmission fluid out of the tail pipe! But if you are leaking transmission fluid keep an eye on it and check the fluid regularly and have the leak repaired as soon as possible. The oil being low is probably what the smoke is sounds like the engine is burning oil. Do you changet he oil regularly? How many miles does it have? The sluggishness can be caused by the transmission fluid leaking, check the level to make sure its not low! The clicking noise in the front when turning could be any of your front end components. Check the tie rods and axles. Try to pinpoint which side the clicking is coming from.

could have pressure build up forcing fluid out dipstick which is flinging onto back of car when driving. Fluid on engine could also cause the smoke you are seeing.
