2001 Mercury Villager Estate 6Cyl3.3L - Engine

When the timing belt breaks on a 2001 mercury villager will it bend the valves?

Wasn't driving the van at the time the belt broke. The car was running at the time, in drive with foot on brake.

  Quite possible - the 3.3L engine is an interference design - meaning if the belt brakes, the valves may contact the pistons.

  Mark,
  The same thing happened to me today. Did you try to have your belt replaced or did you sell your van for parts? The dealership said for them to repair it would cost $2500.00 to fix and my van isn't worth having it fixed. Please let me know what you did as far as repairs and damage. Thanks, Kim
