my sunroof will not open any longer

should i try to manually open the cover, and close it back

  There is a Technical Service Bulletin about possible sunroof switch failure. That said there is a good chance that the switch needs replacement. There is a way for a mechanic to check just the switch first without buying the switch first and being wrong.
