starving for fuel,when i shut engine dow for a couple of minuts,it will run for a couple of miles then stops

  The trouble is more likely a failing knock sensor or a plugged catalytic converter. Have it verified by scan tool. You can visit any part shops that offer free computer scanning to retrieve the stored trouble codes and then post it here so that we can help you better in diagnosing your engine troubles.
