1980 Ford Granada Base 8Cyl5.0L - Engine
TRYING TO GET STARTER TO TURN OVER ENGINE
THIS IS A RACE CAR WE ORIGINALLY INSTALLED A STOCK STARTER BUT DO TO NEWNESS OF MOTOR IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER ENGINE. WE INSTALLED A JEGS PRO STARTER YESTERDAY BUT THE STARTER WILL NOT ENGAGE FLYWHEEL. I RAN BATTERY DIRECT TO NEW STARTER ONCE AND ENGINE TURNS OVER BUT WHEN SOLENOID IS IN THE CIRCUIT IT JUST FREEWILLS IT WONT ENGAGE FLYWHEEL I HAVE RUN TWO NEW GROUNDS ONE TO ENGINE BLOCK, AND ONE TO THE FRAME ALSO HAVE PURCHASED NEW SOLENOID STILL CANNOT GET ENGINE TO TURN OVER. ALSO HAS A NEW BATTERY

    is there a relay in the circuit if so check that, then use a volt meter and check the voltage going into and out of the selonoid when the key is turned. Check jegs specs as to what it needs. I know you changed the selonoid and grounds could be a bad + cable from the battery.
