2000 Mazda MPV ES 6Cyl2.5L - Engine
When I started the car with the mass air flow sensor unplugged it ran smooth but high. Is this a maf sensor problem?
The car was barely idling and with major hesitation I then unplugged the maf sensor the engine died, but when I restarted it, it ran smooth but high.

Have you tried cleaning the mass air flow and throttle body? If not, be sure to try this step first - and use the correct type MAF sensor spray designed for the sensor wire cleaning.
