HouseCallAuto 4/1/2012Remove the fuel line from the carburetor and wrap a rag around the end. Crank over the engine and see if fuel comes spurting out. If no fuel then you likely have a bad fuel pump which on this application is a mechanical pump that is engine mounted. If you decide to replace the fuel pump be careful and read the procedure in your auto repair manual first. If you do it wrong you will damage the new pump and the rod that actuates the pump. If there is fuel coming from the line then replace the fuel filter inside the fitting that the line attaches to.
