1999 Chevrolet Lumina Base 6Cyl3.1L - Transmissions & Drivetrains

I can't start my car with the key but I can start it with a screwdriver on the starter and it seems to be stuck in drive

When I start it it will take off unless the emergency brake is on. Also the gear shifter will not shift the car into any gear. What could cause this?

  If your gear shifter sems "loose" then your shift cable has broken
  
  the reason the key wont work is becase of a neutral safety preventing what you are doing with a screwdriver
