shifting is controlled by vacuum...if you have checked the basics like fluid and fluid leaks, check your vacuum sensors and lines...hopefully it's not the same problem i had with my chevy: had a crack in a vacuum port in the head made it shift real hard and at weird rpm's

Your transmission is NOT vacuum controlled like an old chevy.Your transmission shift is controlled by computer.Information is received from sensors and when the stars align it allows the shift. The first step is finding if there are any error codes stored. These will point you in a certain direction. If I was to make a guess I would say there was a sticky valve inside the transmission. The only thing a layperson can do with these new transmissions is a filter change. That may fix it,but the problem could also be a sensor supplying erronious information to the computer making it think it's time to shift when it shouldn't.It could also be the computer itself. It could be confused at certain instances and s@%t itself.Sometimes a computer will tell on everyone but itself.Best bet is to take it to a reputable transmission shop. Some even do free diagnostics. At any rate they will probably tell you what you need to know more than me.Hope this helps.Good Luck and God Bless
