1996 Chevrolet Tahoe Base 8Cyl5.7L - Transmissions & Drivetrains
when I shift into reverse it starts making a high pitch rubbing sound in drive it starts after speed increases
does not do it until shift in reverse and after speed increase well in drive did not start till recently under vehicle in middle not under motor fluids are ok and no leaks

    Here is a good place to start. Inspect the drive shaft. Put rear axle on jack stands and check driveshaft u-joints for play or binding. You can also spin rear differential and rear tires to check for noise. You should eliminate rear driveshaft and axle problems before suspecting transmission or transfer case issues.
