1998 Nissan Frontier XE 4Cyl2.4L - Engine

My SES light is on. P0500

I just got this truck in june and the ses light came on and i had the computer red it had a code P0500, the speedometer works, I heard Frontiers have a problem with the speedo head. Could this be my problem? and can i fix this at home? The truck only has about 64,000 miles on it.

  po500 code means speed sensor its easy to fix

  Common problem with these instrument clusters. The instrument cluster processes speed signal and sends this signal to computer. There is a malfunction in the cluster.   I just removed the cluster last weekend and tightened all the screws and clean the connections, so far so good after just over 300 miles. Thanks mrwhizard how much $$$$$ just in case the light does come back on.
