    Rear brake pads replaced 3mo. ago. Rear brke rotor replaced on July4. Shld brand new pads b installed?brakes still grind
    3mo. Old pads still look good though. However bad brake rotor outside was not smooth at all. It was rough and abrasive.

      Your vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). The Volvo SRS consists of airbags and knee bolsters on both the driver's and passenger's sides and seat belt tensioners in both front door pillars. The system is designed to supplement the protection provided by the three-point seat belt system.
      The SRS system is self-monitoring - and warning light comes on in the event of a system malfunction to one or more components; including the wiring, connections for each component.

      my volvo s90 is running veyr well but the engine is very fast get hot. the meter is I drive like ten minutes full until red mark what ia the problems?

    I have a bad CV boot on the driver side. I think passenger side is going bad too. I am starting to hear a grinding sound
    Sounds like the brakes but the calipers, rotors and brakes are all brand new. Could the bad CV boot be making the brakes go bad?

      Usually a worn, torn or faulty CV boot will quickly destroy the CV joint and axle shaft joint - due to the boot no longer can protect and keep out the road grime and dust / dirt. Typically, the CV boot and joint is replaced as an asembly - with new axle driveshafts.

      The axle shaft assembly is the direct mechanical link that transfers power from the transaxle to the rear wheels. They are designed to allow the axle to continue transmitting power from the differential to the wheels when moving up and down by means of a flexible link called a constant velocity or CV joint. Over time, the bearings in these joints wear, causing the axle to eventually fail. A faulty bearing can make a grinding or clicking noise, may cause the vehicle to shake while driving, or even prevent the axle from turning at all.

      Try the many on-line auto parts sources, such as; www.autopartsway.com, www.autopartswarehouse.com, www.partsgeek.com and www.rockauto.com for the replacement parts. For example, they (AutoPartsWay) list the drive axle (CV halfshaft) from around $143.00 for your vehicle.

      I would suspect that you have a bad front wheel bearing as a cause for the noise before an axle CV joint. Bad wheel bearing sounds like the scoring noise when you have bad brakes that are metal on metal. A bad CV joint usually ONLY makes noise in a turn and not when driving straight.

    Are ceramic brake pads better than semi-metalic for this vehicle?
    do they actually stop in a shorter distance than semi-metalic?

      The original equipment brake pad material is semi-metallic.

      Pros of Ceramic:
      - In general, they last longer than semi-metallic
      - They can take slightly more abuse
      - They leave minimal brake dust, and the dust that is left is less noticeable-a nice complement to chrome and alloy wheels.

      Cons of Ceramic:
      - Ceramic brakes need to warm up a little before they attain the grip of semi-metallic pads.
      - They're more expensive-sometimes considerably more. However, some brands sell competitively-priced ceramic pads.

      Pros of Semi-Metallic:
      - Better grip than ceramic when cold
      - Often less expensive than ceramic

      Cons of Semi-Metallic
      - Shorter life
      - Brake dust is much more apparent

    I have an ABS fault but I don't know if it is a wheel sensor or the ABS control module. How do I test both?
    ABS light is permanently on. Apparently last owner had something done to wheel sensor but fault returned on his trip home from garage

    Why do i loose all brake pressure after stopping car
    recently replaced brake pads and rotors ,bled all 4 brake lines and brakes continue to fail after i stop car,like at a red light,after a few seconds brake pedal sinks to floor.brake failure light began to light up after i did brake job.

    Can you change one brake pad and rotor without havin to change all 4?
    My front left pad is worn to the metal and is locked I think onto the rotor and I get swivelling sometimes when it's warm not so much in colder days. I wanted to change the whole rotor and pad to fix it.

      You must change the brake rotors and pads on an axle set (in pairs) - either front or rear. The task is not difficult nor expensive - check the AutoMD website and the 'How-To-Guides' for the specific steps to inspect and replace the brakes.
      Check the many on-line auto parts sources for the replacement brake parts, such as; www.autopartswarehouse.com or www.RockAuto.com.

    Anti-skid warning light is on and is located under the passenger seat. Need help diagnosing and removing it.
    105k milage dealer wants to replace my yaw sensor in passenger side seat want some options on repair or replace myself.

    Front left brake squeeling?
    Pad looks worn out to the metal but also the whole pad is locked which is confusing because I have abs. Not sure if there is an issue of liquid or if its normal when there is no pad left.

      Not sure what you mean by normal, but the brake pads do wear. Sounds like a complete front brake job is needed (pads, rotors, & calipers).

      The car still drives without skidding but if I get that whole part replaced will the lock come off and work like normal then?

      If the brakes pads are completely worn, they need to be replaced. If it's metal to metal, you probably need rotors also. Most shops will be glad to check it.

    Why do i have no brake pressure at all after installing a new rotor and pads on front drivers side wheel
    i pumped pdal several times and added fluid but pedal just sinks to floor and i see no leaks from wheel
