    Trans dont want to shift to o.d.. very seldom will at hiway speeds. all gears work good when working
    also motor idles up at times when warm at idle in park or in gear

      Well the car not starting is probably because the transmission is stuck in 1st gear. As for the transmission being stuck any details you can provide will help. What steps did you take to change the fluid and filter?, are you sure you have enough fluid in the transmission (and not too much either)?, is the shift cable stuck?, is the shift lever stuck?, is there a check engine light on? Any detail you can provide could trigger someone's mind and give you better advice.

    When making a sharp left turn at a low speed, transmission goes to neutral. Let up & trans goes back in Drive. Only lef
    This will happen on a hard brake also.

      Could be low on transmission fluid and when you make the sharp turn the pump is sucking air so no torque out.

    Why do the car shift hard comming out of park to revirse and to drive.
    it make a loud thump. what is wrong.

      first check the transmission fluid level make sure it is not low. next how many miles on the car? and how do you drive the car? this sounds like an internal tranmission problem. A hard shift can be sticking valves in the transmission or be caused by worn gears or bearings. what was the drivetain warranty on the car usually it is 50,000 and 5 years? so it might still be under warranty

      They will make noises while the vehicle is moving, have too much play, could cause a vibration, damaged seals and rust.

    Why does my car shake when i go faster than 45 mph.
    120000. the wheels are balanced. the front end is aligned. 80% tread on the tires. ball joints and all the steering components in really good shape. i feel the shaking between the steering wheel and my feet.

      just a hunch but, just because your tires still have plenty of tread on 'em doesn't mean that you may not have a tire with a bad steel belt. Have them checked for that.

    Jerking when shifting into Drive
    I just bought the car and it had been sitting for 2-3 years. It needed a new motor. Everything is together, when I put it in drive the 4th time it jerked really hard. Could it be there's not enough pressure from the transmission from sitting so long? And I can't ...

      I think there's no dipstick for the transmission. Check under chassis, investigate transmission area and you may find the check valve of this.

    WILL NOT COME OUT OF PARK

      1. Check for good power on the BTSI fuse using a Digital Volt Ohm Meter (DVOM) with the key on the run position.

      2. If the fuse does not have good power, check for an ignition switch problem.

      3. If the fuse is ok, verify power on the Pink wire at the shifter assembly with the key on and the Dark Green/white with the brake released. Power on the Dark Green/white should go away with the brake applied. If no power, check for power into the wiring harness. A console wiring harness inline connector (C240) exists in the harness.

      4. If there is voltage before C240 and nothing at the shifter, repair the broken wire.

      5. Check for a good ground on the Orange/black. If no ground, jump the Orange/black at the park/neutral switch to the Black and recheck shifter operation.

      6. If the solenoids now work, replace the park/neutral switch

    Why does ny car crank up but will not stay started

    If the tranimission shakes while driving what needs to be replaced
    rebuilt transmission,it happens while in driving motion,

      the transmission shakes and rattles when in any gear and rattles harder when drove faster

      How long ago was the transmission rebuilt? If you had a shop do it I would take it back to them and possibly have it fixed under warranty. Usually the shakes is a result of low transmission fluid level or contaminated transmission fluid. If the transmission was rebuilt more than 30,000 miles ago I would start by changing the fluid. There are also many additives available that help lubricate the parts and restore seals and so forth. I would pick up one of those products and add it to your fluid change per the directions on the product.

    Why would my shifter be hard to switch from park
    when i go to switch my car from park to reverse or drive it is a struggle but once in gear it will let me switch to another easy.

      If you are parking with your front wheels hard up against something, it can cause the parking pawl to hang up.

      no it happens all the time and the car isnt park against anything. My key sticks in the ignition and and the gear shifter is very hard to shift from park and once i get it out of park it is easy to shift from the reverse to drive.

    Shifter stuck in park and wont move

      Could be park switch is defective. You can use the "Find a Shop" feature of AutoMD for nearby shops in your area.

      If the car is parked with the front wheels pushing up against something like a divider strip and then placed in park, the parking pawl may be sticking. If you can push the car foreward just a bit it may come out of park.
