Will not move in drive or reverse
Everything was fine until I stopped for gas. And then it wouldn't move. I had no indication of anything being wrong until that point. What would cause this?

How does the brake light switch effect the transmission? If the brake was on I could still feel the car want to move. The car goes into park and neutral fine

Trans slips in OD after driving at hiways speeds.
Transmission slips when warm and in OD. RPMs will gradually increase at times, up to 5000 rpm. Engine temp also goes up at this time. Pull over and let car idle for about 10 min and then it will operate normally for a few more miles. Today i tried shifting into ...

I want to add a transmission conditioning cleaner to my transmission fluid, but cannot find the cap - where?
Mechanic says there is a slight transmission leak, no way to check transmission level unless we do a full flush and fill. Not going back! Once I find the cap I plan to check it for the correct level as per repair iinstructions. I can't quite identify where the cap ...

On the transmission itself, close to the back of the filter and pan, there is a check plug. This plug, when opened, should be filled to just overflowing.

      1. Jack your vehicle up or raise it on a lift, but it needs to be level so the fluids are level as well.
      2. Open the check plug on the transmission.
      3. Start your engine and shift the transmission into neutral. The transmission fluid should be at the level of the opened check plug.
      4. If the fluid is lower than the check plug, or no fluid drips out, fill the transmission fluid until it just seeps out.

There is no dipstick, but there is a cap to fill transmission fluid accessible from under the hood. It is located on the right side of the engine bay between the power steering pump and the intake box.

Don't wait until the sensor goes off to check/replace transmission fluid. Wear gloves please

you will have to carry to dealer could be bad key or lock cylinder

Nope, ya don't need the dealer. You need to do a Passlock relearn. Try this for some joy >>

Perform the Passlock learn procedure as follows: 1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. 2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON. The vehicle will not start. 3. Observe the SECURITY telltale, after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn OFF. 4. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds. 5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 two more times for a total of 3 cycles/30 minutes. 6. The fourth time the engine is cranked, it should start and run.

I believed the fluid level is more than full otherwise the transmission cooler is clogged or its passage and the fluid pressure forcing the fluid to go out through the dipstick passage. Did you notice any irregularity in function of the transmission, like gear slippage or noise maybe? Try to give us further details with this so we're able to help you in diagnosing the trouble. Is the check engine light comes on?

All transmissions are vented to release pressure to the atmosphere. Locate vent tube on case to see if it is clogged or restricted. Any overfill should be exiting from that vent hose. Otherwise take MOONSTER TOOLZ advice. Try easy first.

Tranny makes a clunking noise when in park or neutral
will not shift into higher gear unless I let off the gas so the rpms drops then it will shift into second same with third. If i do not let off the gas and let it shift that way, the engine will continue to just race at higher rpm's.

There is a fill plug on the side of the transaxle. To check fluid level, remove the plug and stick your finger in the hole. If it comes out wet, the fluid level is OK. If it comes out dry, add a bit of fluid until your finger comes out wet.

Well the car not starting is probably because the transmission is stuck in 1st gear. As for the transmission being stuck any details you can provide will help. What steps did you take to change the fluid and filter?, are you sure you have enough fluid in the transmission (and not too much either)?, is the shift cable stuck?, is the shift lever stuck?, is there a check engine light on? Any detail you can provide could trigger someone's mind and give you better advice.

When making a sharp left turn at a low speed, transmission goes to neutral. Let up & trans goes back in Drive. Only lef
This will happen on a hard brake also.

Could be low on transmission fluid and when you make the sharp turn the pump is sucking air so no torque out.

Why do the car shift hard comming out of park to revirse and to drive.

first check the transmission fluid level make sure it is not low. next how many miles on the car? and how do you drive the car? this sounds like an internal tranmission problem. A hard shift can be sticking valves in the transmission or be caused by worn gears or bearings. what was the drivetain warranty on the car usually it is 50,000 and 5 years? so it might still be under warranty
