Can the front abs wheel speed sensor be replaced on a 2008 torrent awd?dlockley82 - 2008 Pontiac Torrent - Transmissions & Drivetrains - 2/5/2013stock ac delco replacement hub doesnt come with sensors apparently so I assume it can be but just want to make sure-
2/5/2013 HouseCallAutoYes the sensor can be bought separately, however I would make sure that after removing the retaining bolt that holds the sensor in place, and then make sure that the sensor is not frozen in place, and then you can buy the sensor. If it were me, it is not worth the concern of finding this out after beginning work on the vehicle, and being that the sensor comes already installed in most brands of hub assemblies (ACDELCO is an exception) and the sensor is like $60 while the hub ass'y is like $120, for my money and time, I would buy the hub ass'y with a new sensor. I also believe that in many cases the hub ass'y is the cause of the fault code for the abs sensor to begin with.
2/5/2013 dlockley82ok thank you. I actually dont have an abs light on but i need the hub assembly replaced...I am having a hard time determining which brands come with the appropriate sensor. Will the timken assembly come with the sensor? What about Centric or one of the more inexpensive brands? Any additional info would be much appreciated. Thanks -
2/5/2013 HouseCallAutoyes, the Timken hub seems to come with the sensor , but in one picture I saw you cannot see a wire, however when I clicked add'l info I read this >> Features a pre-sealed, pre-greased and pre-set bearing package design with integrated sensing technology for anti-lock braking systems, total traction control and vehicle dynamics systems.
Fully serviceable wheel speed sensor (where applicable) is internally mounted and protected from road hazards, debris and potential damage.
I think they all come with sensors (except ACDELCO)
2/5/2013 dlockley82Ya I read the same thing actually on rockauto.com. It is very confusing though because I was looking at an assembly from a cheaper brand on ebay that says it comes with all the sensors but then I emailed them and they said it didn't for my vehicle. The fact that its AWD shouldn't change anything should it? because most sites don't ask me to input that spec about my vehicle when they provide search results. Have you heard anything good about any of the "budget" brands of hub assemblies?
2/5/2013 HouseCallAutoI'm OK with them. Have installed many of those "value" brands and if they were to have failed because of there little known brand '/ quality, I would have had a call back.

Hub bearing replacementjohn14800 - 2001 Pontiac Grand Am - Transmissions & Drivetrains - 1/19/2013I have a bad hub bearing on rt side. How do I replace it? I have separated the hub from the control arm and removed the axel shaft and the three retaining bolts for the bearing and hub assembly, but it won't come out. Thanks

1/19/2013 JimmThis is not a difficult repair, if you have the proper tools, i.e. air compressor, impact gun, a big hammer, and probably a 35mm impact socket. In order to replace the hub and bearing, which is serviced as one unit, you need to first remove the wheel, the brake caliper and mounting brack, the rotor, disconnect the tie rod from the knuckle, remove the lower ball joint nut, separate the lower control arm from the knuckle, remove the axle shaft retaining nut (this is the part where if you don't have an impact gun, 35mm socket, and an air compressor, you will have a very hard time). Next grab your hammer and pound on the end of the axle shaft to get it to come out of the hub. Be careful not to damage the threads on the end of the axle shaft or you won't be able to get the nut started. Sometimes you can spin the nut on a few threads and hit the nut instead of the end of the axle shaft. I've actually had to cut a 1/4" off the end of the threads and start over. There are 3 bolts that hold the hub onto the knuckle. Remove those and disconnect the abs wheel speed sensor connector.

12/23/2012 JimmOne motor mount - in front - located by the engine oil pan. Connects to the front crossmember. Try the many on-line auto parts sources, such as; www.autopartswarehouse.com or www.rockauto.com for the replacement parts. For example, they (RockAuto) list the motor mount for around $12.00 for your vehicle.
