actually I meant putting a catalytic cleaner in the system to run through the converter so that it will clean it.....would this work to get it clean? kinda like using a carburetor cleaner in the gas tank.....

catalytic converters are real touchy when it comes to dumping chemicals into them...if you think your converter is going bad...just get a univirsal converter...they are usually cheaper.

your cable in the steering column near the ignition switch may need cleaned and lubricated. mine did that and I was told I needed a new cable from the gear shift to the ignition. I was also told that it could be adjusted but all it needed was cleaned and now it works fine. it was all gummed up with dirt and gunk and a mechanic disassembled it, cleaned it, lubricated it, and put it back together.....key comes out like new....

The engine coughs and stalls out, what could cause this?
We just got the oil changed and changed the air filter. When you first start to accelerate it hesitates and jerks.

Defective accelerator pump diaphragm can cause it. Also check the condition of your fuel injectors, PCV valve and its hose, fuel filter and spark plug.

      1. Find the ambient air temperature sensor located on the lower radiator core support, just right of center.

      2. Disconnect the ambient air temperature sensor. Using a suitable jumper, short the Light Green/Black wire to the Yellow wire.

      3. Turn the key on, engine off. Check the temperature value display.

      4. If the display now reads "SC", replace the ambient air temperature sensor.

      5. If the display still reads "OC", locate and repair the open circuit between the inside rearview mirror and the ambient air temperature sensor
