Trip meter works bot the odometer of actual mileage does not.fred - 1998 Pontiac Sunfire - Body & Interior - 8/13/2010-
8/13/2010 Ladiesman217There are plastic "hooks" that are supposed to hold the tumbler in place after being pushed past these hooks - the hooks are too small and break off. It isn't too hard of a fix, just need to wire the trip tumbler down. The main odometer is held in by the same type of hooks, but they are much bigger and less prone to breakage.

8/4/2010 HouseCallAutoI believe that the cause will be found in the main fuse panel under-hood. Check all large fuses first, something tells me at least one of them is open and if you are sure they are all good then my suspicion goes to the ignition switch which feeds power to the main fuse panel under-hood. See if the large fuses have power when you check them. Use a 12 volt test lamp to check.

2. The voltage should stay near 0 V with the windshield wiper switch OFF.
3. If the windshield wiper switch voltages are 0 V and the windshield wipers come on, replace the windshield wiper module.
4. If voltage is present on any of the three circuits, disconnect the windshield wiper motor connector, recheck voltages.
