A FEW quarts? How many exactly? Automatic transmissions are pretty sensitive to over- and under-filling. One quart difference from the recommended capacity can cause all sorts of issues. Your vehicle specifically takes 13.9 quarts. That is DRY fill. If the pan/drain plug is pulled, you're only going to get about a quarter of that amount out. I would follow the manufacturer's procedure as far as checking the fluid. Many cars have a different method of checking. some are okay to check cold and go by what's on the dipstick. Some, like mine, require driving the car so that everything is up to operating temp, parking on a level surface, and placing the selector in each position for three seconds, returning to park, waiting three minutes, then checking the fluid level.

      Good luck

Is this just my transmission filter?
Earlier this morning on the way to work my car would slighty rev as if it was in neutral while in D. I was able to get to work because it stopped around half way there. However after work on the way back home my car would literally go nearly no where. It was in D ...

Why dose my car hesitate when I push on gas to increase speed, skips real bad trying to increase speed to 40-55mp.

First step - have the stored fault codes or check engine light scanned - for free - at any local auto parts store; Advance Auto, Auto Zone, NAPA. Then, post a reply as 'add answer' with the specific code for more assistance. There may be a fault code stored in the OBD memory which may not be displayed as a check engine light.

Possible Causes of Engine Hesitation or Stumble:

Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this)
      Dirty air filter (change filter)
Dirty / clogged fuel filter (change filter)
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
      Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)

Sometimes, what feels like a hesitation is actually ignition misfire rather than lean misfire. The causes of ignition misfire may include:

      Dirty or worn spark plugs
      Bad plug wires
      Weak ignition coil
      Wet plug wires

My car's gears are slipping. Help!
I can go backwards just fine. When i put my car in drive, I press the gas peddle, it revs a little, and then jerks into going forward. I don't know what to do. It does the jerk thing every time I come to a stop or go has to push the gas pedal.

Not Shifting out of third gear
I have a V6 mercury cougar 2000, automatic. It is not shifting out of third gear. When I get to the 3rd gear, and drive at 60 mph, the rpm rises to about 3000 or a little more. Even if I keep on pressing the gas the RPM keeps on rising and does not shift out of the ...

Column shifter will not engage in "D" drive position. I noticed some prior roughness a few weeks earlier,
Despite roughness, I was still able to engage all gears successfully by pulling back shift handle while changing to forward, reverse, and park. Today I proceeded to back out of driveway in reverse, but when I tried to move shifter to drive, it would not engage to ...

There is a growning sound when car is started and put in reverse.it goes away as car warms up.
