6/22/2011 Spoon SportsMy friend had the same problem. As it turns out, It was all controlled by the automatic temperature controller. It was referred to as a ATC chip if im not mistaken. He purchased the chip on line from a used parts store for about $50.00. It is pretty easy to install. It's located on the firewall on passenger side behind a heather hose

Front a/c blower is not blowing but rear a/c is blowing fine.tricia - 2005 Mercury Mountaineer - Preventive Maintenance - 6/21/2011I just replaced fuse #17 and the a/c stopped blowing same time, so think they have something in common but can't locate what fuse this might be that is causing this issue.-
6/21/2011 michelleWish someone would have helped you with this, as I'm having the same problem with my 2005 Dodge Caravan, back a/c is blowing fine, but nothing blowing in front. AND, it was 105 today where I live. UGH Hope you get some answers as to what may be causing this. -
6/21/2011 HouseCallAutounplug the connector that powers the front blower motor and check for 12 volts on one pin and ground on the other pin when the blower is on with engine running. Blower motor is under the dash, pass side, accessible.

I have a 2002 mercury mountaineer the air compressor works fine .it;s doing what it is suppose to .it is blowing out hotterry dais - 2002 Mercury Mountaineer - Preventive Maintenance - 6/14/2011it is blowing out hot and cold air out the vents checked all doors working fine even with dail on cold it still blow hot and cold it morer hot than it is cold .you can feel the cold air when you put your hand in front of the vent .also hot air to-
6/11/2011 BillIt is either insufficient freon in compressor or gate valve on heater core not closing allowing hot coolant into system, thus no cooling after engine warms up. -
6/11/2011 HouseCallAutoThe system is low on refrigerant 4 sure.
6/11/2011 terry daisit has plenty of refrigerant the lines get cold and sweat off like it suppose to it just blow hot and cold air -
6/12/2011 HouseCallAutoI will acknowledge the system not being low on refrigerant when you say you attached an AC manifold set and read the high and low side pressures. Until you do that I stand by my internet diagnosis based upon what you say is happening. Is the AC compressor remaining engaged or is it cycling on and off?
6/13/2011 terry daisyes the compressor stay engaged when you cut it on .its more like it is blowing hot air on one side and cold air on the other -
6/14/2011 HouseCallAutoIf it has dual zone climate control (separate temperature controls for driver and passenger area) then you have a stuck / failed blend door actuator on the side that will not change the temperature. Try smacking the bottom of the heater / AC housing.
6/14/2011 terry daisno it does not have a dual zone control it has a control ffor the fan turn dail one for hot and cold red and blue and the other one for ac and different position to set -
6/14/2011 HouseCallAutoOK, so, are you able to either attach a gauge set to read the low and hi pressure, or are you able to humor me and add about a half a pound of refrigerant? I know you said the system "has plenty of refrigerant" but that is not diagnostics.

Why does my truck periodcally shut off & restart when I reset the fuel switch.Stacey - 1997 Mercury Mountaineer - Preventive Maintenance - 6/10/2011happens after long period of driving, mileage 150k,kept in great shape, new plugs, batt, starter, alt, radiator, tires, brakes.no warning lights,YES i keep low fuel alot, just happen 3x (summer) everyone tell me fuel not getting thru & propbaly alot of trash???-
6/10/2011 HouseCallAutoThe diagnostic strategy here is to see what is missing when it is in the no start mode. Do you hear the fuel pump run when the key is turned to "on"? It should hum for two seconds and stop.

I cant seem to get rid of the code P1151 Manufactures Control Fuel Air Metering, loneryder - 1999 Mercury Cougar - Preventive Maintenance - 6/7/2011I have replaced all of the O2 sensors and the Mass air flow sensor, but that code still haunts me, could someone please help me?-
6/7/2011 JimmP1151 = Lack of HO2S-21 Switch, Sensor Indicates Lean. It means a Heated Exhaust Oxygen (HO2S) sensor indicating lean at the end of a test is trying to correct for an over-rich condition. The test fails when the fuel control system no longer detects switching for a calibrated amount of time.
Causes: A code P1151 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
Electrical:
Short to VPWR in the harness or HO2S
Water in the harness connector
Open/shorted HO2S circuit
Corrosion or poor mating terminals and wiring
Damaged HO2S
Damaged PCM
Fuel System:
Excessive fuel pressure
Leaking/contaminated fuel injectors
Leaking fuel pressure regulator
Low fuel pressure or running out of fuel
Vapor recovery system
Induction System:
Air leaks after the MAF
Vacuum Leaks
PCV system:
Improperly seated engine oil dipstick
EGR System:
Leaking gasket
Stuck EGR valve
Leaking diaphragm or EVR
Base Engine:
Oil overfill
Cam Timing
Cylinder compression
Exhaust leaks before or near the HO2S(s)

Driver seat motor - the current one works intermittentlyron - 1992 Mercury Grand Marquis - Preventive Maintenance - 6/3/2011 -
Which port do you add 134A refrig coolant 2melissa - 2006 Mercury Mountaineer - Preventive Maintenance - 6/1/2011-
6/1/2011 JimmAlways add the refrigerant to the suction side of the compressor; this would be the low-pressure port. Usually the high-pressure and low-pressure ports are two (2) different sizes, so the connections cannot be mixed to accidently add the refrigerant to the high side (wrong port).

5/20/2011 HouseCallAutoI need to know if you have electronic automatic temperature control or just regular manual heating and air conditioning. The electronic version has a digital display. You can set the temperature in numbers as opposed to rotating a hot / cold knob with the manual system.

How do I determine which oil filter to use?Shaggy - 2001 Mercury Mountaineer - Preventive Maintenance - 5/20/2011I just bought this vehicle and went to the store to get the oil and filter to change them and it listed two possible filter numbers based on either a 22mm shaft or a 3/4 - 16 shaft and of course after crawling under it and looking I think I got the wrong one so How ...-
5/20/2011 Spoon SportsGet your old one, go back to the shop and match it with the new one. Besides, you just stated there are 2 part numbers, so guess what the correct part number is now :)

5/20/2011 HouseCallAutoIf you can read a part # and brand on the old filter that is still attached, that I could cross reference and tell you which one you have.
