Some say its a sensor on the passenger seat which is not cheap. There's two parts to this... the module bolted to the floor under the seat, and the sensor mat glued on top of the passenger seat cushion.
Sorry couldnt give any more details depends on how confident you both are in how the repair will go. Could be as simple as a wiring connector issue or the whole module might need to be replaced. I can't be sure. -

My center seat belt wont pull outLisa - 2003 Mercury Sable - Body & Interior - 3/22/2012is there anything i can try to fix it or will it just need to be replaced-
3/22/2012 EG9 K20A3Ok the first thing we always try is to slam the seat back into the catch , as if the seat is not sitting properley ( even a tiny bit ot ) the centre seat belt wont release , if the fault is still present after you do this a few times the cause is that the rear seat backrest is not fully engaged into the second lock. A revised rear seat backrest latch bump stop should be installed, and the rear seat backrest stop on the left-hand side of the vehicle should be re-worked.

Air Bag light is on after working on seatFrank - 2006 Mercury Mountaineer - Body & Interior - 3/3/2012I swapped out the passenger seat on our 2006 Mercury Mountaineer Luxury 6 Cyl 4.0L. The "old" seat was totally manual, the "new" seat is motor driven. The "new" seat came from a junk yard, and had a lot of grease on it. As the "old" seat was in good shape, I put ...-
3/2/2012 raoul_tiestoThe seat has a built in pressure pad,to sense the weight of the occupant.I am guessing that something happened when u swapped the seat cushion.
Occupant sensing devices let the airbag control unit know if someone is occupying a seat adjacent to an airbag, the mass/weight of the person, whether a seat belt or child restraint is being used, and whether the person is forward in the seat and close to the airbag. Based on this information and crash severity information, the airbag is deployed at either a high force level, a less forceful level, or not at all.
If u have a airbag light on u should have a airbag related DTC.Not all scanners have the ability to read airbag codes(body codes).Check engine will not illuminate for airbag related issues.
3/2/2012 FrankThank you. This gives me a direction. I especially wasn't aware that there could be codes that didn't turn on the check engine light. I believe I (stupidly) ignored some codes that I saw (I need to find a hard surface to bang my head against). I hope that the same sensors are used in the seat I replaced and/or I can figure out how I might have messed up the way it/they are sensing. Thanks again.
3/3/2012 FrankIt turns out that the "ignored codes" were not real - from simulator mode of software. Still not working. -
3/3/2012 raoul_tiestoDouble check all wiring harness and connectors on that seat and seat airbag connector.Does the airbag light flashes before stays on?Its hard to believe that u have the light on with no codes at all.If u cant find the problem i suggest taking the car to a ford dealer.
3/16/2012 FrankI took the vehicle to a Ford dealer. It was the control module under the seat. I gave them the one that was on the vehicle before I changed the seat, and it fixed the problem. Of course they had to perform some magic to "reinitialize the system". While it will never happen again, if it did I would use as much from the existing seat as practical... AND ... disconnect the battery until I was done. Thanks for your responses. -
3/3/2012 HouseCallAutoThe inexpensive code readers do not read air bag codes, you need the more expensive model to do that because the codes are stored in a different module than the powertrain codes (P codes). The air bag codes are B, C and U codes.
