1/21/2012 ericmuhlbaierI am interested in any replacment information. I am not as concerned as some about keeping the care at its original state as I drive it often. My 79 450 sl is very thirsty wtih the 3 speed. Would love to find a more effecient engine and transmission swap upgrade or modification that has been proven to work,. Let me know if you know anything about it. Thanks

1/16/2012 MarvYou have to hit in a downward motion on the gear shift itself. The gear shift is the problem, it must be replaced to solve your issues. Just make sure you remove the shift nobb before you start. This is done by turning the silver ring at the bottom of the wood nobb counter clockwise... Marv
