Is my car safe to drive?
On Sunday 3/23 I got a P0730 incorrect gear ratio code. My car was kind of cold and I was going up a slight hill before it came on. I cleared it out and have driven since then and to date, 3/26, the code hasn't shown up again. I need to go on a 115 mile trip (there ...

You want to read this article here >> http://www.justanswer.com/.../...chased-07-mb.html

Also I would like to mention. You purchased a code reader at my suggestion and you know how that code reader works now. If you want to take that a step further, I suggest you look for the $500 Chinese copy of the Mercedes Benz Star Tester (aliexpress.com for example) and then you would be able to check your transmission control module for add'l codes which you cannot do now. I recently bought an 07 SL550 and I will be buying one of these units for my own use so I do not ever have to be forced to pay the full retail Mercedes Benz retail repair bills that they hand out daily to everyone. At least if you have the full function scan tool you will have a chance to mitigate your repair costs through knowledge of what the faults are and what the data sensors say. Regular scanners cannot read this stuff, only the factory scan tool can and I hear that these Chinese made copies $500 Mercedes Benz Star tester can do the job same as the genuine one they use at MB. The real one probably costs 5K or more.

6 speed manual transmission won't shift into 4th gear. All other gears work great.
The car has a new flywheel, pilot bearing, clutch. It was working fine one day, and the next, will not slip into fourth. Everything else in the transmission seems fine. Could it be a linkage problem or internal....I can live without 4th gear in lieu of a trans overhaul.

Is there a way to bypass the air conditioning pulley when installing the serpentine belt.
The air condition pulley has seized which caused the serpentine belt to snap. I was wondering if the belt can still be replaced with out using that pulley.

Most likely - take the old belt to the local auto parts store to compare with a new belt of shorter length to exclude the a/c compressor from the routing path.

The original transmission in the car got bad and it was changed..i bought it for $2200, it has approx. 15k miles on it. Later the mech discovered that the valve body of the new one was 'dirty' or bad, and swapped it with the valve body of the old one. The car moved ...

Why won't my car go into gear?
After I washed my car at an automatic car wash it would not go into gear. It was very cold out and thought maybe somehting froze under the car or a sensor. I opened the panel as instructed in the owners manual and was able to manually shift but now need to fix it. ...

Possibly a frozen neutral safety switch / range selector on the transmission - perhaps some moisture has entered to cause the problem?
When you state the car will not go into gear - does this mean you cannot manually shift out of Park, or into any other gear position - or does this mean the transmission does not shift automatically in Drive for the different speeds?

Check your transmission fluid level, hopefully it is low bc thats the cheapest fix. Or the torque converter maybe going out I would try putting Lucas non-slip In the transmission. Works pretty good

If this vehicle a shift control cable or linkage, It would be connected from throttle linkage to
transmission. It's possible it could be defective.

the service bulletin sounds like what john deere call a pip or product improvement. they probably get a kit of wires or something that they can throw on every car with in a certain serial number. we get allot of them on new models.

The blower for the heating and air stopped working about 3 months ago. Then, worked for a month and now nothing. What?
248,000 miles. Fuses seem to be good. The radiator does have a leak that needs repairing. Any ideas?

The blower motor is located under the cowl by the wipers. Remove the cowl to access the blower motor. At the connector there should be battery voltage and a ground with the blower switch turned on with the car running or at least the key in the on position. Behind the blower motor there is a blower control unit which sends varying amperage to the motor. It is likely that either the blower or the controller is junk. Diagnose this using a 12 volts test light to determine if the motor itself is receiving both the voltage signal and a ground, and if it is and the motor is not running then the motor is junk. You can check for battery voltage into the blower controller from the fuse box and out of the controller to the motor.

What is the alternative of the differential gear with a ratio number 3.92 of Mercedes Benz
I could not found the Differential Gear Ratio 3.92 of my car. So I'm looking for an alternative. actually my car is E-200 STATE 1995

Your best bet is check out the assembly with your Mercedes dealer. They may be able to tell you what vehicles your differential assembly was fitted to. If you are not intending to buy new, then a list of vehicles it was fitted to will enable you to carry out a broader search for vehicles from used or salvage vehicle sources.

First step - have the stored fault codes or check engine light scanned - for free - at any local auto parts store; Advance Auto, Auto Zone, NAPA. Then, post a reply as 'add answer' with the specific code for more assistance. There may be a fault code stored in the OBD memory which may not be displayed as a check engine light.

Possible Causes of Engine Hesitation or Stumble:

Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this)
      Dirty air filter (change filter)
Dirty / clogged fuel filter (change filter)
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
      Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)

Sometimes, what feels like a hesitation is actually ignition misfire rather than lean misfire. The causes of ignition misfire may include:

      Dirty or worn spark plugs
      Bad plug wires
      Weak ignition coil
      Wet plug wires
