Why does my front right wheel squeek
132k miles. When car turns on an incline or decline, there is a squeeking sound coming from the the right side. Also, it squeeks when I press down on the hood in that area. Could it be the ball joints or the upper control arm? That is what I was told

It is possible but to be thorough you can also check your coil spring and/or shock absorber.

Pick up a set of H&R's for a non self leveling car (420, 300, 380....)install them w/ a set of Bilstein HD's. Pull your pump, buy the now neccesary plate and a new gasket to keep it from leaking.

You can leave everything else in place. I would cap off the lines just in case someone wants to bring it back to original spec down the road.

Start by obtaining a repair guide for you vehicle. The next thing is very important...........Tools! You will need the repair guide to assist you with the procedure for removing the drive belt/s and other accesories mounted on the engine that may be in the way. The tools are extremely important because you may need to transfer the drive pulley from the old unit to the new unit which if not done properly can result in damage to the new unit.

Just replaced the front right strut and the automatic system will not recalibrate ... now the engine will not turn on
car seems to be locked in protection mode and gear shift will not move out of park and electric system is not working properly ... some components turn on ... just not engine, sunroof and airmatic system to refill front end ... fuses are fine, no apparent damaged ...

    • Bobby

These have a specific procedure. Not sure but i think you also have to pressurize the strut. You have multiple problems going on here and the biggest thing is mercedes likes to keep there knowledge in house so finding good diagnostic help is hard and expensive. Try tackiling one thing at a time. the vehicle not moving out of gear is probably where you want to start. was this hapening before you went to replace the strut or is this a result after replacing the strut?
      Bobby
      6/15/2010 cadezt
yes, the battery issue happened after the strut was replaced ... and, the strut would not recalibrate or pressurize which caused there to be too much stress on the front end ... there has got to be a reason for this that started with the strut replacement ... i think, any other ideas ???

CHECK YOUR STRUTS...lean on the front bumper)L or R side) and push it down hard a couple times, let it go,if its easy and it bounces back a couple of times by its self, your struts are in bad shape.IT SHOULD NOT BOUNCE BACK AT ALL BY ITS SELF.
ARE YOUR TIRES INFLATED CORRECTLY? low pressure often give the same feeling....

That vehicles suspension system is fluid and electrically controled ,there are alot of possibilities from needing to clean the fluid and filtering system to bleeding out the system to checking the vehicles electrical ride control sensors . The easiest to check is the fluid condition and bleed the system .

On my 87 560SL the tie rod ends (all 6) were worn out. Sometimes the idler arm bushings are worn and will cause this. (easy to change on a 300E but on the 560 harder cause you have to pull the starter). sure wish these Sl's had been available with an inline 6 and 5 spd...
