Are you referring to the heater hose at the heater core? If yes, then the heater hose connections and the hose clamps the heater core are accessed from underneath the instrument panel.

      Battery/Charging Alert:
Indicates voltage level is below normal level and the vehicle's charging system is not functioning properly. Check battery terminals, alternator belt, and battery condition.

Local auto parts stores will test this vehicle charging system with their mobile analyzer for free of charge and they will confirm accurately the results of this problem.
Note: the voltage output from the alternator must deliver between 13.5 to 14.5 volts in order to turn off the battery light.

My '84 Mercedes 300D has been sitting stored for a bit. Is there a drain point on the tank to drain the diesel fuel?
Spring is on its way! Having been kept in storage I'm thinking Ild best drain and change what diesel there is in the tank (water & contamination) so I'm not faced w any more issues than ness. How can I go about draining the tank?

    • Jimm

Check the tank for a drain point. If there is none, then simply disconnect the fuel line at either; the fuel tank or at the fuel filter to drain out the old fuel. It may help to lift / raise the rear of the vehicle to allow gravity to work

Tires losing air, not flat but visibly flattening.
All four tires seem to have slow leaks. At least once a week I need to pump them up.

Unlikely that all four could have a nail, but I guess anything is possible... Check the valve stem, rim and tire with water.

First, try the owners or maintenance manual with the vehicle. Next, try the on-line manual sources, such as; www.manualspace.com for the maintenance schedule.
Mercedes uses a Flexible Service System that takes into consideration your cars operating characteristics for service recommendations. They have gotten away from the 30, 60, 90,000 mile intervals. For the most part you'll just do lubrication services every 13,000 miles. For example, if you're coming up on a 39,000 mile service where they also recommend new fluid and filter in the transmission and new transfer case fluid. I recommend doing an oil and filter change in between each lubrication service. At 2 year/26,000 mile intervals they recommend a new cabin air filter. Engine air filter is recommended every 52,000 miles, fuel filter at 65,000 miles and spark plugs at 78,000 miles. Brake fluid should be changed every 2 years.

How can i turne off "service due" on dashboard?

    • Jimm
      1/20/2013 Jimm
If you perform the service yourself, you can manually reset the service indicator.

Turn the ignition switch using your key to the "II" position.

Press the trip odometer reset button twice within one second. This must be done within four seconds of moving the ignition to the "II" position. This causes the car to enter reset mode.

Turn the ignition switch to the "0" position.

Press and hold the trip odometer reset button.

Turn the ignition switch to the "II" position.

Release the trip odometer reset button when the service indicator resets and a chime sounds. Turn the ignition switch off.
