Why is this water pump so expensive?
is the part no longer made for the 3.2 V6?

I would buy this pump online for under $75 with shipping included. Where are you shopping? No need to pay $500 for it at mercedes benz.

The parts are readily available from these many on-line sources,,,,, - to list only a few possibilities.
In fact, they (RockAuto) list the water pump with gasket from around $50.80 for your vehicle.

If you need directions / instructions for the replacement, use these websites;, or and the 'How-To-Guides' feature.

Not starting?, turning over but not enough to start. 2nd try even less, 3rd try nothing.
Put new battery in and still had to jump it. Had alternator checked and it is good. Will start after taking a drive down freeway but not after it sits overnight?
    • HouseCallAuto
      2/8/2014 HouseCallAuto
The starter may be drawing too much current. Are you saying that it starts up immediately after attaching jumper cables? Maybe the battery is a defect?
      2/9/2014 AutoMD Member
The new battery we put in is the same amps and terminals but smaller in physical size(measurement) would be the problem?
      2/9/2014 HouseCallAuto
You did not answer my question. The new battery appearance should not affect the starting.
      2/9/2014 AutoMD Member
Wanted to let you know that it turned out to be a defective battery so good job with your answer. We also had spark plugs and wires changed due to them being fouled. Starting great now and sounds a whole lot better.
      2/9/2014 HouseCallAuto
Defective battery is rare but has to be considered. It always turns out to be something else more than 90% of the time. I guess this is in the 10%. Stay well.

Wont start unless i pour gas down intake.
unless i pour gas down intake, the car wont start. has plenty of pressure to throttle body but none at injectors.

Remove the air cleaner, disconnect the connector at the Idle Air Control valve (IAC) and test using a digital multimeter for presence of battery voltage (B+) at the Red/Blue wire at the IAC. Switch the ignition on. Also check the reading with the key on engine cranking. If the reading is less than B+ by more than 0.4v, replace the overvoltage protection relay.

Need more information - are you referring to the oil filler cap on the valve cover - on top of the engine? Or are you referring to the oil filter housing for the oil filter element that is replaced when changing the engine oil?

Transmission oil is getting into the radiator coolant
have replaced the radiator as advised to is there another reason this is occuring

I can't think of another way tranny oil would get into coolant except for the internal radiator cooler. I assume you are asking this question because the problem did not seem to resolve after replacing the radiator? Is it possible that it is engine oil and not tranny oil?

Its usually mounted on the side of the transmission. It takes the place of or does the same job that a speedometer cable does. Its electrical though instead of being a cable that plugs into the transmission,,like a mechanical speedometer cable does

The engine just cuts out sometimes. The Turbo also has a tendency to cut out.

First step - have the stored fault codes or check engine light scanned - for free - at any local auto parts store; Advance Auto, Auto Zone, NAPA. Then, post a reply as 'add answer' with the specific code for more assistance. There may be a fault code stored in the OBD memory which may not be displayed as a check engine light.

Possible Causes of Engine Hesitation or Stumble:

Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this)
      Dirty air filter (change filter)
Dirty / clogged fuel filter (change filter)
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
      Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)

Sometimes, what feels like a hesitation is actually ignition misfire rather than lean misfire. The causes of ignition misfire may include:

      Dirty or worn spark plugs
      Bad plug wires
      Weak ignition coil
      Wet plug wires

Press gas pedal, hesitation before it accelerates.
Made a hard stop at traffic light, then pressed accelerator and it didn't rev the engine nor did it move, then 2 -3 seconds it began to engage and move.

Virtually everything that involves a running problem with the engine is diagnosed by observing the symptom first and then plugging in a code reader to see if any fault data codes are set in memory of the vehicle computer. These codes are needed to diagnose your cause and using a scan tool or code reader to get these codes cannot be skipped. if you want to proceed to try to fix this yourself you will need to invest a minimum of $20 for a code reader at for the purpose of reading your own fault codes (it takes a minute or two) and after you get the code numbers update this post with that information and then we at AutoMD can continue to assist.

Is there a battery available that I can use instead of the factory issued one?
I took it to Sears to have it replaced and the mechanic told me their batteries don't fit. He suggested I go to the dealer but of course I wanted a second opinion. Thanks in advance.

Why is my check engine lights on sometimes
sometime when I turn my car on the check engine lights pop up and a car start putting. I have slug in the engine I that can cause the problem?thank you

It means that there is a malfunction with an engine sensor most likely and that a numeric fault code is stored in the computer memory. One has to access this data with a code reader and read the code. After knowing the fault code data a diagnosis might be made.

Replace the battery with a new one; 1) Take out the metal spare key from the electronic body
      2) At the top of the opening, you'll see a small plastic "latch"
      3) Use a small screw driver or pin to pust against this HORIZONTALLY (i.e., with key sensor facing down, push against this plastic piece horizontally)
      4) As you push, pull the top portion of the electronic key in the vertical direction. It should come out and allow you to replace the battery.
