Remove the air cleaner, disconnect the connector at the Idle Air Control valve (IAC) and test using a digital multimeter for presence of battery voltage (B+) at the Red/Blue wire at the IAC. Switch the ignition on. Also check the reading with the key on engine cranking. If the reading is less than B+ by more than 0.4v, replace the overvoltage protection relay.

Need more information - are you referring to the oil filler cap on the valve cover - on top of the engine? Or are you referring to the oil filter housing for the oil filter element that is replaced when changing the engine oil?

I can't think of another way tranny oil would get into coolant except for the internal radiator cooler. I assume you are asking this question because the problem did not seem to resolve after replacing the radiator? Is it possible that it is engine oil and not tranny oil?

The engine just cuts out sometimes. The Turbo also has a tendency to cut out.

First step - have the stored fault codes or check engine light scanned - for free - at any local auto parts store; Advance Auto, Auto Zone, NAPA. Then, post a reply as 'add answer' with the specific code for more assistance. There may be a fault code stored in the OBD memory which may not be displayed as a check engine light.

Possible Causes of Engine Hesitation or Stumble:

Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this)
      Dirty air filter (change filter)
Dirty / clogged fuel filter (change filter)
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
      Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)

Sometimes, what feels like a hesitation is actually ignition misfire rather than lean misfire. The causes of ignition misfire may include:

      Dirty or worn spark plugs
      Bad plug wires
      Weak ignition coil
      Wet plug wires

Press gas pedal, hesitation before it accelerates.
Made a hard stop at traffic light, then pressed accelerator and it didn't rev the engine nor did it move, then 2 -3 seconds it began to engage and move.

Virtually everything that involves a running problem with the engine is diagnosed by observing the symptom first and then plugging in a code reader to see if any fault data codes are set in memory of the vehicle computer. These codes are needed to diagnose your cause and using a scan tool or code reader to get these codes cannot be skipped. if you want to proceed to try to fix this yourself you will need to invest a minimum of $20 for a code reader at amazon.com for the purpose of reading your own fault codes (it takes a minute or two) and after you get the code numbers update this post with that information and then we at AutoMD can continue to assist.

Is there a battery available that I can use instead of the factory issued one?
I took it to Sears to have it replaced and the mechanic told me their batteries don't fit. He suggested I go to the dealer but of course I wanted a second opinion. Thanks in advance.

It means that there is a malfunction with an engine sensor most likely and that a numeric fault code is stored in the computer memory. One has to access this data with a code reader and read the code. After knowing the fault code data a diagnosis might be made.

Replace the battery with a new one; 1) Take out the metal spare key from the electronic body
      2) At the top of the opening, you'll see a small plastic "latch"
      3) Use a small screw driver or pin to pust against this HORIZONTALLY (i.e., with key sensor facing down, push against this plastic piece horizontally)
      4) As you push, pull the top portion of the electronic key in the vertical direction. It should come out and allow you to replace the battery.

Check the 10 amp fuse in the overvoltage protection relay. If it is blown, replace it and see if the symptoms are cured.

Complex, requires diagnosis with MB equipment. there is no cable. This is a fly by wire system. Have to start with reading fault codes at very least. I would recc you find a MB tech unless you are a very seasoned and experienced DIY mechanic. You can obtain a basic code reader from Amazon for $17 but that will only read codes and not provide live data.
