Press gas pedal, hesitation before it accelerates.
Made a hard stop at traffic light, then pressed accelerator and it didn't rev the engine nor did it move, then 2 -3 seconds it began to engage and move.

Virtually everything that involves a running problem with the engine is diagnosed by observing the symptom first and then plugging in a code reader to see if any fault data codes are set in memory of the vehicle computer. These codes are needed to diagnose your cause and using a scan tool or code reader to get these codes cannot be skipped. if you want to proceed to try to fix this yourself you will need to invest a minimum of $20 for a code reader at amazon.com for the purpose of reading your own fault codes (it takes a minute or two) and after you get the code numbers update this post with that information and then we at AutoMD can continue to assist.

Is there a battery available that I can use instead of the factory issued one?
I took it to Sears to have it replaced and the mechanic told me their batteries don't fit. He suggested I go to the dealer but of course I wanted a second opinion. Thanks in advance.

It means that there is a malfunction with an engine sensor most likely and that a numeric fault code is stored in the computer memory. One has to access this data with a code reader and read the code. After knowing the fault code data a diagnosis might be made.

Replace the battery with a new one; 1) Take out the metal spare key from the electronic body
      2) At the top of the opening, you'll see a small plastic "latch"
      3) Use a small screw driver or pin to pust against this HORIZONTALLY (i.e., with key sensor facing down, push against this plastic piece horizontally)
      4) As you push, pull the top portion of the electronic key in the vertical direction. It should come out and allow you to replace the battery.

Check the 10 amp fuse in the overvoltage protection relay. If it is blown, replace it and see if the symptoms are cured.

    Accelerator cable
    Little and slow acceleration

Complex, requires diagnosis with MB equipment. there is no cable. This is a fly by wire system. Have to start with reading fault codes at very least. I would recc you find a MB tech unless you are a very seasoned and experienced DIY mechanic. You can obtain a basic code reader from Amazon for $17 but that will only read codes and not provide live data.

Is it getting too much fuel? Or is the spark not hot enough to fire the fuel, IE a bad coil or coils.
What does the red light next to the battery signify!

Will the "MAF" keep my car from starting?
Hit something in the road on the way home, cut into one of the trans lines, (replaced) - busted the intake air cooler, (replaced) - codes for the MAF & AIT are showing now & car is extremely hard to start. Once started, lacks power and can only drive approx. 20-30 mph.

What are the specific codes? We will need these in oder to help diagnose to a problem area or offer further asssiatance.

In order to clean the sensor wires, you must remove the MAF from the car. Once removed, spray some electrical contact cleaner or non-chlorinated brake cleaner (something that leaves NO residue) through the sampling tube over the wires.

The MAF should be clean inside. If not, you have a leak that is letting air in that isn't being filtered. The wires may or may not look slightly off color. They can become oxidized over time, which can affect readings. Excess oil from a K&N or other open element filter that has been over-oiled can foul the wires, as well.

If my car was serviced for a problem under warranty...
If my car got serviced for a problem during warranty in 2007 and that same problem is just occured now can it still be fixed for no cost? The check engine light is on for the camshaft position sensor. should i contact the dealer and take it in?

Best to have the question answered - regarding the repair performed and the specific warranty detail - by contacting the dealership or repair shop that actually performed the work in 2007, or beyond this step you may also contact Mercedes-Benz directly.
Keep in mind, the camshaft position sensor - like any other component / part has a specific warranty and expected service life.

Generally, the repairs may be covered if the manufacturer offered an extended warranty or some other repair assistance - in writing, when the warranty work on the camshaft position sensor was replaced.

Given the fact you are asking the question would indicate the warranty work is limited in time or mileage - or both - to the present time. If this is the case, then any related repairs would be at your expense for all parts and labor.

The cam position sensor is available outside trhe deleaership network - try these sources; www.partsgeek.com, www.rockauto.com, www.discountautoparts.com - to list only a few possibilities.

In fact, they (RockAuto) list the camshaft position sensor from around $94.00 - aftermarket parts; (Standard Motor Products part # PC641), or the (Airtex / Wells part # 5S7040) are same as original (OEM).

The camshaft position sensor (CPS) is not difficult to replace - use the AutoMD, the Auto Zone, or this link: (www2.justanswer.com/uploads/eurotec/2011-11-02_234700_removal_and_replacement.pdf) with specific repair steps and diagrams - to replace the cam position sensors. The sensor is located on the cylinder head; with one bolt and one electrical connector to unplug.

I would suggest 1st replacing the magnets on bank 1 (passenger side of engine), both intake and exhaust camshaft position sensors, then resetting the CEL (check engine light) and see what happens.

    Engine Oil and Filter change
The estimates for engine oil and filter change for this vehicle on this site are totally incorrect. This vehicle uses 9.25 quarts of Mobil 1 ESP 5w-40 Formula M - Approved against Daimler Chrysler's MB 229.51. That stuff sells for ~ $8 per quart. I suspect these ...

There is -0- chance that they will fix it for free. They will treat it as a new job. I don't believe that they have lifetime warranty on repairs performed years earlier, one year / 12000 miles is typical.

Where is the windshield washer pump located and is it hard to change?
Fluid is full however no fluid squirts when the button is pressed

Do you hear any noise when you push the button? The washer pump takes an hour to replace. Not your usual DIY type repair though. Have to remove the rear fender liner inside the right front fender to access the bottle and pump. Also, according to a procedure I read, a special tool is needed ( a wedge) of which here is a link to that special tool >> http://www.factorymoparparts.com/115-589-03-59-00.html

Buy a yearly subscription to alldataDIY for like $30. You can buy the manuals from MB but expect to pay big money. By the way, I just purchased an 07 SL550 with 50K miles.
